Bunların başında bu defterlerin yazımında kullanılan siyakat tabir olunan ve çoğu zaman Arap alfabesindeki noktalı harflerin noktalarının gözardı edilerek yazılmasıdır. Bu durum kelimenin sağlıklı okunmasını çoğu zaman zorlaştırmaktadır hatta bazen yanıltmaya yol açabilmektedir. İkinci bir zorluk ise bu toponimlerin çoğunun varlığının günümüze ulaşmamış olmasıdır. Osmanlı döneminin yer adlarını doğru tespit etmenin bir başka zorluğu da aynı adın farklı tarihlerde tutulan tahrir defterlerinde değişik yazılmasıdır. Bu durumda hangi ad daha doğrudur hususu meselesi ortaya çıkmaktadır. Tespitlerimize göre XVI. Dikkat edilirse bu toponimlerin tamamı Türçedir. Daha da önemlisi bu toponimlerin yer aldığı coğrafyada Türk hâkimiyeti kesintisiz sürmüş olmasına rağmen bu özellikteki toponimlerden günümüzde mevcut olanların sayısı bir elin parmaklarını geçmemektedir. Bu bildiride sıfat grubu toponimler bağlı olduğu sancaklar belirtilerek liste hâlinde verilecek. Bunların hangi tarihten itibaren tahrir defterlerinde yer almaya başladığı belirtilecektir. Bunun yanında bunlardan hangilerinin günümüze ulaştığına vurgu yapılacaktır. Bu toponimlerin çoğunun günümüze ulaşmamasının tarihî ve demografik sebepleri üzerinde durulacaktır. Bu bildiride XVI. The last difficulty of determine of place names in the Ottoman period is that the same name was written differently in the cadastral record books recorded in different dates.
